Sponsorships Staff Education Fund
Many of our staff members in Ethiopia wish to further their education
but simply are unable to do so because of lack of financial support.
Contributions to this fund go directly to pay the costs of further
education such as nursing school for our child care workers, further
education classes for our teachers, and accounting education for our
office workers. You can make a donation through the "Donate Now" button
or by sending a check with a note that the funds are to be designated
for staff educational support.
Currently, two AAI employees are continuing their
education with support of the Staff Educational Support Fund:
-
Tigist has been working for AAI since November, 2000.
She started as a child care worker and was promoted to
head house mother, then to house manager and now she
is the librarian for the Layla House School. She is
very happy with her job and really enjoys being with
the kids in the library.
With the help of the Staff Educational Support Fund, Tigist is attending college in the evenings to study accounting. When she completes her degree, Tigist would like to continue her schooling for an advanced degree in Management.
- Tsige was a child care worker at Wanna, and in the
summer of 2004 when a volunteer nurse spent time with
the younger children and babies working on improving
their care, Tsige expressed an interest in helping
continue the program that the volunteer had
instituted. She was promoted to medical supervisor at
Layla House, and enrolled as a nursing student at
Saint Lideta medical college. Her sponsorship pays for
her school fee every month.
Tsige is very happy because the courses she is taking are very much linked to and helpful in her current job. Tsige also has taken a computer training course so she can also work with computers. This training has inspired her to begin to computerize the updates to the medical records of the children.
Tsige has said "It was because my sponsor's generosity that I found such a good chance." And she promised to work hard both in her academy and her job.
